Horizon Observatory
The observatory is located on Mt.Atago, the highest spot in Choshi, and offers a 360 degrees view of the surrounding area.
Looking at the view from here we can truly appreciate the fact that the earth is round!
On a fine day, we can see all the way from Kashima Bay and Mt.Tsukuba in the north, across the vast stretch of Pacific Ocean to the Byoubugaura cliffs and Kujukuri Bay in the west. If we are lucky, we can even catch a glimpse of Mt.Fuji.
And if the views aren't enough... there is a well-stocked souvenir shop!
WOW!Point
Choshi's natural beauty has inspired generations of Japanese writers and painters.
In the exhibition space you will find replicas of the commemorative tablets which are dotted around the city, paying hommage to these great artists.
Access
By train
Take the "Choshi Dentetsu Line" from "Choshi Stn". and get off at "Inubo Stn".
Approx.15 mins walk uphill from "Inubo Stn".

From Inubo station
Turn right out of the station and cross the railroad tracks. Cross over the road and keep going straight.
On the left you will see Manganji temple. Enter the grounds and follow the small path on the left hand side up the side of the hill.
At the end, turn right and follow the road up to the top of the hill.
By bus
Take the bus bound for "Nagasaki" from "bus stop #5" at "Choshi Stn". and get off at "Tokaijinja bus stop".
Approx.7 mins walk from the "Tokaijinja bus stop".
※Misaki Meguri shuttle bus runs only on Saturdays ,Sundays,National holidays,7/21-8/31,1/1-1/3.

From Tokaijima bus stop
Take the road leading to the direction of Inubosaki.
Turn left after about 50m and follow the winding path up the hill. The Observatory is at the top.
By Bus
Take the "Misaki Meguri shuttle bus" from "bus stop #4" at "Choshi Station" and get off at "Tikyutenbokan bus stop".
Approx.1 min walk from "Tikyutenbokan bus stop".
